(Taken from one of my very first collections)
I asked the old man how important is it that we spend time working on our thoughts and the way we use our minds?
Thus he replied;
Your worst enemy
cannot harm you as much as your mind, Untrained.
And a mind restrained by knowledge
becomes as a desert where it has never rained.
In neither will anything grow.
A troubled mind
cannot find the way.
You spend your time
getting out of your own way.
A true mind
with our thoughts,
Is Greatness
for all that we are arises with our thoughts.
Master the skilful
use of your mind,
And all around-
answers will you find.
Be not lazy
for laziness has no place,
Take not for granted
for from your mind there is no hiding place.
Disciplined
in the use of your mind,
Dedicated
to protecting your life's mine.
